Gaming studios that have worked hard on both space game RPG's and MMORPG's are observing lots of benefits since these games have exploded in popularity in recent years. Even though technology has expanded in considerable ways since the days of dice RPG's like Dungeons and Dragons, you will still notice many of the same elements in modern role playing games. As technology has improved over the last decade, particularly in relation to the Internet, so has the way in which many people enjoy role playing and space games. The manner in which players interact with one another has been forever altered with the advent of MMORPG's, also called massively multiplayer online games. Which differences will players notice between classic RPG's on a gaming console and an online MMORPG?

The basic elements of any RPG space game, such as leveling up, gaining items as loot from defeated enemies, and customizing your character, will hold true in both RPG's and MMORPG's. The straight progression of most console RPG's is clearly different, however, from the free world concept of newer online games. You cannot make major changes to the plot of the game since the dialogue and events are already programmed into the game and cannot be altered.

The gameplay experience is much different when your space game is online and there are hundreds of other players all around you in the game world. The game environment is always being adapted and changing based on the decision you make in the game, as well as the decisions other players who are logged on are making. These games truly feel like you are playing the role of your character because, instead of teaming up with predictable computer characters, you are working together with real people. It is nice to have freedom to go and do as you wish in the game world instead of having to stick to a set storyline and only work together with the game's assigned characters.

The considerable majority of role playing games for normal gaming consoles have been one player games with no multiplayer support or modes. This social feature of MMORPG's is part of the reason for which they have quickly gained popularity around the world.

Though they are different in some ways, space game MMORPG's and RPG's are both popular. An exciting game that mixes role playing elements with an Web based social aspect can bring you countless hours of fun.
